What I'm Reading

My wife has been bugging me (encouraging) me to watch the mini-series "Lonesome Dove" since we met 7 or 8 years ago. I've resisted so far. Its not really fair since she has sat through all three Lord of the Rings movies in a marathon viewing one day with me. I found out that the book was already sitting on our book shelf so I figured I'd read the book first. The book is dragging though. I'm 700 pages into it and I am anxious to see it finish. I am hoping that the story lines intersect in an interesting way.

A group of us have a book club that meets every couple of months and I need to get on to those books soon. There is also a nice stack of books I picked up at Powell’s Books in Portland. I better stop typing and get to reading.

Um...ok. So, maybe the book isn't the greatest. I haven't read it so can't relate. But the mini-series is AWESOME! Robert Duvall, Angelica Houston, Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover, Robert Urich, Diane Lane...AND Rick(y) Schroder. Maybe it's the cast that gives it the leg up on the book, but it really is a great (little) flick. For those days when you have 6 or so hours to blow...
